THE GUESTHOUSE
overlooks the old harbour which
is a base for a fleet of square-rigged
sailing boats often used, as is
the harbour itself, for filming.
Either side
of the harbour entrance are two
attractive pebble beaches for
bathing or just strolling.
Charlestown
is a Conservation Area of special
local importance. A mile away
is the town of St Austell with
it's main line connections to
London and other major cities.
Either side
of the village over the coast
path lies Carlyon Bay to the East,
with it's huge sandy beach and
to the West, the pretty beach
at Porthpean. Three Golf Courses
lie within two miles, whilst the
splendid Eden Project is four
miles away and Heligan Gardens
five.
Charlestown
boasts a Post Office Stores, two
Pubs each serving bar and restaurant
meals, and a Bistro built above
the Charlestown Shipwreck and
Heritage Centre and a fine gourmet
restaurant.
A variety
of old classic boats are usually
tied-up in the harbour where repairs
and refits are carried out in
traditional ways.
